Dear guru, what are house rental procedures? Last month, we aldy confirmed one unit with your advertised agent. As soon as we have made confirmation, he asked us to transfer one month deposit to his account. We aldy transferred one month deposit to him although we don't know his data exactly. We only know his ph no and his acc no and his name. That's all we know. This is one point I want to ask is that did he need to pay his business card or his id no or sth like that so that we can trust him for our money? Isn't it? He didn't give and we didn't know to ask his id or sth cos this is our first rental experience. So what i want to know is that do we need to pay one month deposit for confirmation. Why he asked for this without giving his id.

Hi,
Please do check whether the agent is registered sales person or not? And have you seen the landlord of the particular unit? And do you have the agreement with you?
First check the sales person particulars in the CEA website, Here is the link for you.

Hi Lynn,

The most important thing right now is to contact the agent in particular to seek understand of the whole situation and where possible, finalise the rental and all. Otherwise recover the deposit you have handed over. If all else fails, I am afraid that you just have to move on and search for another rental property and seek the advise or read up on the procedures proper before making any monetary transactions.
