Good morning sis,

HDB doesnt allow decoupling/ part share anymore (change one owner to essential occupier).

You guys might be thinking of decouple to buy a private but sorry to inform we have to do other ways nowadays to own 2 properties.

Good morning,

Unfortunately HDB no longer allows this transfer of ownership anymore for hdb owners unless its for special circumstances like divorce or financial hardship.

You guys might be considering decoupling to purchase another private property but this is no longer possible for hdb owners. To minimize the upfront costs, most likely HDB owners will have to sell first to purchase the next one and buy individually. Or they can purchase under their loved ones who do not have any other properties.

Decoupling of HDB asset is not allowed. If you really wish to do that, you can only only appeal to HDB and subject to their approval. What are your plans like perhaps we may need to find alternative solutions.

Hi Mdm,

HDB does not allowed couple to decouple the HDB. Only cases such as divorced are accepted. For your case, you wont be able to change your spouse to become an essential occupier. If your intention is to free up the name to purchase 2 properties instead, then I would suggest selling the HDB now since prices are at an all time high and purchase 2 private properties instead.

Hi,
Unfortunately decoupling of HDB flat is no longer allowed. With effect from April 2016, transfer of ownership of an HDB flat is only allowed for divorce, marriage, medical reasons, death of an owner, financial hardship and renunciation of Singapore citizenship.

As such, situations outside of the aforementioned circumstances will be considered on a case-by-case basis.
