Hi,

Since he is eligible to purchase as a single singaporean citizen 35 years and above now, he can purchase the resale hdb on his sole name first. Based on current regulation, to my understanding he may not need to add your name into the hdb as owner in the future, and may only add as normal occupier status, hence its possible for you to keep the private property. However, you would need to stay in the hdb and cannot rent it out. Regulations may change anytime though.

May I have more info and requirements about your plans so to make better recommendations? Thanks and look forward to value-add to your housing plans.

Warm Regards,

Hi
I anticipate a problem in the future as under the current regulation, HDB does not allow a couple to purchase a HDB if one of the couple did own a private property. In fact even if you sell it off, in order for your partner to enjoy first timer grant, you have to wait for a buffer period of 30 months before HDB allows you to purchase a HDB BTO or resale with grant. (Can appeal for this but nothing is conclusive). To avoid this issue, your partner may purchase a HDB resale now under singles scheme now provided if he is above 35 years of age. He may even enjoy Singles grant. In that way, you did not dispose off your private property after getting married. Do contact me at 93375051  for a free and non obligatory discussions on this.
