Afternoon,

If you have fulfilled your MOP for the HDB unit and set aside the required CPF minimum sum, you are eligible to purchase resale EC and yet keep your HDB unit.

Hi Property invested;

If you purchase brand new EC,then you are to dispose of your current HDB within 6 mths upon TOP of your EC..

Hi if you have fulfilled your MOP for your HDB, you can purchase a partially privatised EC and still keep your HDB.

A partially privatised EC means that it has reached 5 years old, and is only open to Citizens and PRs to purchase. It will fully privatize in 10 years, and is open to Foreigners. You can purchase either and still keep your HDB.

However if you choose to purchase a BRAND NEW EC, then NO, you will have to sell your HDB within 6 months of collection of your keys to your BRAND NEW EC.

Hope this clarifies as the earlier 2 replies did not cover this in depth.

You generally cannot buy an Executive Condo (EC) if you currently own an HDB flat, including a 5-room unit. One of the eligibility rules for EC purchase is that applicants must not own any private property or HDB flats.

If you already own a 5-room HDB, you would usually need to sell your existing flat before buying an EC. There are some exceptions, but these are rare and specific.
