Can I buy a resale HDB flat with my mother who has been divorced for more than 10 years?
I am currently 23 years old and I would like to be able to buy a HDB flat by the age of 30 or before 35, but I am single and I also want to let my mom live in a bigger house too.
If I am able to buy with my mom, how do I go about it? Thanks in advance

Where are both of you currently staying? Did your mum own any HDB before? Any details on these ownerships?

Hi,

1) You may buy a resale HDB flat with your mother if you fulfill any of the following categories:
(a) Both of you are SC (Singapore Citizens).
(b) One of you are SPR (Singapore Permanent Resident) and the other is an SC.
(c) One of you is SC and the other is a foreigner and holding LTVP.

2) Your plan is about 7 yrs from now. The most important thing to do is to save enough to buy your flat later.
3) Once you have enough funds for the purchase, you do the following to buy your flat:
(a) Decide where to stay with your budget.
(b) Check the average price of that estate.
(c) Check the average price of the area in that estate.
(d) Source for the flats that are available in the market.
(e) Decide on the size and remaining lease that you could afford with your budget.
(f) Start viewing.
(g) Place an offer for the unit that you like.
(h) Follow the HDB guideline published to complete the purchase.
4) Alternatively look for an agent to assist in your planning and purchase. This will save you a lot of time and avoid mistakes that a lot of DIY buyers encountered.
