Hi Wang,

Unfortunately the answer is no, once you commit to a BTO you will have to wait till completion (about 3 years) and stay mimimum 5 years before you can sell it and move to the next resale HDB unit. You can not own more than 1 HDB unit.

If you are in a hurry to move in then BTO might not be a good choice. You should then look into buying resale HDB/condo instead.

Hi Mengxi,

Sorry to inform you that you are unable to own 2 HDBs at any point of time.

If you intend to get a BTO first, you will have to fulfill its minimum occupation period first before getting a resale. Of course have to dispose off the BTO eventually,

Assuming you are a first timer Singaporean, you can apply for CPF housing grants up to $160000 to purchase a resale flat. After MOP of 5 years you may proceed to apply for BTO. Once your BTO has TOP (around 3 years from date of application) you may then proceed to sell off your resale flat and purchase a BTO. With your CPF grants together with accrued interest being refunded to your CPF account, you will built up your CPF that way which means you have lesser loan obligations for your new BTO in teh future. (Do note Resale Levy is applicable to be paid in cash) Do contact me at 93375051 for further queries and details.

As long as you had not chosen a unit in a BTO exercise, you are free to commit to a resale HDB flat.

If you had chosen a BTO unit, and eventually decided to go for a resale HDB flat, you will need to forfeit the deposits that you had already paid towards the flat. You will also not be entitled to the housing grant.
