Hi, it should not affect your application to become a Singaporean, but you can check with ICA regarding this matter. You will not be able to purchase a HDB if you hold on to the property as far as i know.

If you are currently or planning to find a property agent, I can assist.

If you are interested in prices of houses in your neighbourhood, you may visit this website to find out more or contact me .

Applying for Singapore citizenship while owning property in another country, such as an apartment in India, involves understanding Singapore's policies regarding foreign property ownership. Here are the key points to consider:

### 1. Eligibility for Applying for Singapore Citizenship
- **Property Ownership**: Owning property in another country does not disqualify you from applying for Singapore citizenship. The Singaporean authorities do not require applicants to dispose of their foreign properties before applying for citizenship.
- **Other Criteria**: Ensure that you meet other eligibility criteria for citizenship, such as residency requirements, employment status, and contributions to Singapore society.

### 2. Disposing of Property
- **Pre-Application**: You are not required to sell or dispose of your property in India before applying for Singapore citizenship.
- **Post-Application**: Once you are granted Singapore citizenship, there is no mandatory requirement to sell your property in India.

### 3. Maintaining Foreign Property After Becoming a Citizen
- **Retention of Property**: As a Singapore citizen, you are allowed to retain ownership of property in other countries. There is no restriction on owning overseas property once you become a Singapore citizen.
- **Reporting Requirements**: Ensure that you comply with any reporting requirements for foreign property ownership as stipulated by Singaporean law. This might include declaring foreign assets if required for tax purposes.

### Summary
- **Application**: You can apply for Singapore citizenship even if you own an apartment in India. There is no need to sell your property before or after your application.
- **Ownership**: After becoming a Singapore citizen, you can continue to own and manage your property in India without any restrictions imposed by Singapore.
- **Compliance**: Ensure compliance with any legal and tax obligations related to foreign property ownership.

If you have specific concerns or need further clarification, it may be beneficial to consult with a legal expert or the Immigration and Checkpoints Authority (ICA) of Singapore to get accurate and updated information.

Hi Shiva,

This is more of immigration questions, not real estate related questions to Singapore. You may wish to consult an immigration specialist instead of us as it is outside our capacity to advise.

I have been in the real estate business since 2009, with more than 14 years of experience serving the Singapore real estate market.

I am very active in the residential segment of Singapore real estate market, having transacted hundreds of deals from HDBs to private condominiums and landed properties in Singapore, and have handled many unique cases in sales and purchases as well as rental deals.

Over the years, I have also established a network reaching out to more than 9,400 expatriates, bringing my market presence to both in and outside of Singapore. This has created an additional exposure when I manage my client's portfolios, on top of the conventional on and offline platforms, where other estate agents are relying on. This has allowed me to consistently convert leads into results.

With an evolving market, where change is the only constant, I have also been investing in upgrading of my knowledge and skills sets to improve myself and meet the demands of current and future market.

We are offering our clients a complimentary first consultation without obligations (Absolutely FREE!). Schedule for your FREE session today!

Hi Shiva,

1) There is no relationship between owning property locally and overseas to your citizenship application/
2) The main consideration that ICA has is your contribution to the country in terms of economically and politically.
3) If you are building a factory or growing your business in Singapore definitely will increase your success in the citizenship application.
4) Having private property will only deter you from buying any HDB flat. You will therefore need to consider private property instead.
5) Note that IRAS will only count your property in Singapore and not overseas, you will not be subject to ABSD to own your first private residential property when you receive your citizenship.

Please give me a thumbs-up if the answer provided is relevant to your main concern. Thanks!!!

Hope the above answers your main concerns, but if there are more queries, please feel free to contact me at 90110636  , or email: ling.ck7@gmail.com if more information is needed.
I'll be glad to assist.
