Good morning a,

you have to purchase a resale HDB with your spouse (essential occupier) under non citizen spouse scheme to form a family nucleus.

If she owns an overseas property, she has to dispose it off. If she intends to buy, can only do so after 5 years MOP. Same regulation that applies to owner will apply to her as an essential occupier.

Hi,

1) When you put up an application for HDB flat purchase, all owners and occupiers must have conscious of preparing to dispose of their property (local & overseas) within 6 months upon key collection.
2) In your situation since you are married, your spouse will automatically become the essential occupier if not the owner. And will need to observe the 5 yrs MOP same as the owner.
3) If you are still single and already reached 35 yrs old or older, you may purchase under the Single Citizen scheme.
4) In such a situation, your spouse will only become an occupier after married instead of an essential occupier. Your spouse will not need to observe the 5 yrs MOP as the owner.

The foreign spouse will be able to purchase an overseas property once they had fulfilled the 5-year MOP of the HDB flat that they purchased.
