If you are not one of the essential occupiers for the HDB flat, then you will not be restricted by the 5 years MOP and you will be able to purchase a private property.

Hi Rena,

1) Although it is a fact that your husband bought the current HDB flat under an eligibility scheme without you as an essential occupier.
2) But, it is also mandatory for him to add you as an essential occupier after married. This is required by the rules and regulations of the HDB.
3) That, all HDB dwellers are supposed to provide an update to date information to the HDB.
4) So, you will have to observe the same MOP with your husband, not resetting the period but following through.
5) One of the rules is not allowed to purchase private residential property locally and overseas.
