Dear sir/madam, As a salesperson, we seldom come across private home owners looking to purchase HDB, unless they intend to scale down their financial commitments, as purchasing a resale HDB will bar the purchaser from purchasing a private residential property for the next 5 years. Not only that, he or she will be required to relinquish the private home ownership within 6 months from becoming owner of the purchase resale HDB. As a private homeowner who is intending to downgrade, they will also be required to wait for 30 months after the sale of their private home before being eligible to apply for a brand new HDB.
