Advice needed on how to buy a flat in woodlands.
Hi Gurus,
We had a planning to move back to Singapore in a few months to buy a HDB flat in Woodlands. However, because of the new rule from HDB that overseas had to be disposed at least 30 months before we can get grants, we cannot buy a flat with grant.
We sold our overseas property on 1 Feb 2012.
Question: What are the chances of getting an exception from HDB? We would like to get a grant to buy a resale HDB. Our overseas property was bought using interest-only loan.
Second, if we do not manage to get an exception, do you advise to wait up until the 30 months is expired in order to get grant or should we still buy a HDB flat without grant? I am thinking of renting a smaller 3 bedroom HDB until we are eligible to get grant to buy a 4 room HDB flat. What do you think?
Or shall we just buy a 4room HDB without grant because the prices will rise anyway in 1 1/2 years time? Which is the most optimum scenerio for us?
