Approach HDB branch office for assistance. If there is not a need to do so, highly encourage not to do so since there will be a free name to look into purchasing a secondary property at minimal to no ABSD. Read More

Hi,

You have to reach out to HDB branch to apply for this addition. If you have plans to buy private property in the future, if possible you may want to avoid the addition so to keep the name free to purchase private property.

Here’s how you can add your spouse as a co-owner to your HDB flat:

- Submit an application to HDB to include your spouse as a co-owner. You can do this through the My HDBPage portal.
- Ensure that both you and your spouse meet the eligibility criteria (citizenship, age, and family nucleus requirements).
- Check the current CPF usage and loans, as adding a co-owner may impact both CPF withdrawal limits and the share of ownership.
- You’ll also need to update the legal ownership documents with HDB, which might include re-assessing the current loan if it's still active.
- Depending on your situation, HDB may require you to pay stamp duty based on the new share of the property.
- Once processed, HDB will notify you of the change, and the title will be updated accordingly.
