A Singapore Permanent Resident joint with Singapore Citizen to buy a HDB under public scheme. If the SPR own a oversea property while the SC doesnt own any property, can both SC + SPR buy a hdb (resale/BTO) without selling the oversea property? Both couldnt have oversea property?

Hi,

According to the rules, all owners and occupiers cannot own any private property (locally and overseas) for the last 15 months before being eligible to purchase a resale HDB flat. For BTO, it will be a 30 months wait.

The outright answer is no, however, you can still appeal to HDB for approval if you have valid reasons to keep the overseas property.

Morning,

Sorry they are unable to purchase a BTO or resale HDB right if either has a private property on hand.

Need to dispose off any private property be in Singapore or overseas and observe 15 months period before eligible to purchase resale HDB or 30 months if applying for BTO.

Unless buyers are 55 years old and above and as an exemption, eligible to purchase up to a 4rm flat right away. If not have to appeal to be eligible for HFE to purchase.

For resale HDB, the wait out period is 15 months after legal completion of private property transfer, and for BTO its 30 months. HOWEVER , you may appeal to HDB

Hi,

1) All applicants; inclusive of all owners and occupiers are not allowed to own any private residential property locally and overseas.
2) But the HDB allowed a household to own a non-residential property to apply for a BTO/SBF or to buy a resale flat.
You can see the detail under Married couples and/or parent(s) with child(ren) -> Non-residential property.

3) You will have to observe a 15-month wait-out period after selling to buy a resale HDB flat without grants and HDB loan.
4) You will have to observe a 30-month wait-out period after selling to buy:
(a) BTO/SBF
(b) Resale HDB flat with grants and HDB loan
5) You must have a valid reason not to sell your overseas property to submit an appeal via the feedback channel:

6) It is recommended to appeal without getting an MP involved.
