HDB appoints three new members to its board

Bobby Chin Yoke Choong, Chairman of NTUC Fairprice Co-operative Ltd, has been re-appointed as HDB Chairman.

The Housing and Development Board (HDB) has appointed three new board members and re-appointed its chairman along with six other members.

HDB Board’s new term will start from 1 October 2020 to 30 Sep 2022, said the Ministry of National Development (MND) and HDB in a joint release on Wednesday (30 September).

The three new members to the HDB board are Lee Yi-Jin, Commander of the Sixth Division of Singapore Armed Forces; Rita Soh Siow Lan, Managing Director of RDC Architects Pte Ltd; and Tan Wah Yeow, Non-Resident Ambassador to the Kingdom of Norway.

Tan also serves as Fellow of the Institute of Singapore Chartered Accountants as well as the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales.

MND and HDB said the three new board members “have broad expertise and experience in the public service, accounting and architecture”.

Their appointment comes after three members stepped down from the board at the end of their term on 30 September. They are Tham Sai Choy, Chairman of the Governing Council of the Singapore Institute of Directors; Heng Chye Kiang, Provost’s Professor at the School of Design & Environment at the National University of Singapore; and Goh Si Hou, Chief of Army at Singapore Armed Forces.

“MND and HDB wish to thank them for their service, guidance and invaluable contributions during their term of appointment,” read the release.

Meanwhile, Bobby Chin Yoke Choong, Chairman of NTUC Fairprice Co-operative Ltd, has been re-appointed as HDB Chairman.

Lily Kong Lee Lee, President of Singapore Management University, has also been re-appointed and will assume the position of HDB Deputy Chairman.

The other six board members that have been re-appointed include Cheong Koon Hean, Chief Executive Officer of HDB; Mohd Sa’at Bin Abdul Rahman, Editor of Berita Harian/Berita Minggu by Singapore Press Holdings Ltd; and Sudha Nair, Executive Director of PAVE.

Also re-appointed were Stephen Lim Beng Lin, CEO of SQL View Pte Ltd; Jacqueline Loh Wai Yin, Deputy Managing Director of Markets and Development at Monetary Authority of Singapore; and Patrick Tay Teck Guan, Assistant Secretary-General at NTUC, and Member of Parliament for Pioneer SMC.
