Interiors that echo, reflect, and extend the fluidity of the natural setting, seven-tower JadeScape, in Singapore’s central town of Bishan, exemplifies design par excellence. Under the prowess of leading developer Qingjian Realty (Marymount), the 1,206-unit development is an ambitious, innovative and timeless example of how architectural and design vision can become one.

A Best Private Condo Interior Design win at the 8th annual PropertyGuru Asia Property Awards (Singapore) in October 2018 is much-deserved for JadeScape, with Ong & Ong taking the lead for interior design and looking after the project’s architecture along with Tange Associates, and landscaping by Ecoplan Asia.

The one-bedroom units aimed at older residents sit in the same complex as larger units, including five-bedroom suites and penthouses created with families in mind, all within an ample 400,000-sq-ft plot. JadeScape’s earthy, nature-inspired interiors complement the condo’s garden landscape, dotted with over 100 facilities, as well as the natural parklands and river beyond. A smart community platform app allows residents to perform a wide variety of functions from paying maintenance fees to switching on the air-conditioner, while ‘Gold Standard’ units for older residents incorporate intuitive technology and design.

Last year’s head of the judging panel and one of this year’s judges, Minkqee ‘Mink’ Tan has been managing director of innovative, award-winning architecture and interior design practice MINKKE for nearly 20 years. He was impressed by how the functional interiors seamlessly connect with the landscaping and natural beauty of the surrounding scenery.

“JadeScape’s interior design is a clever mix of contemporary and classic, with clean-lined comfort accentuated by luxurious touches such as marble and upscale appliances never before seen in this category,” he said. “Practical AND beautiful, JadeScape’s interior is an extension of architect Paul Noritaka Tange’s Asian garden theme where he drew inspiration from the beautiful MacRitchie Reservoir nearby. The result is a haven that balances nature and timelessness.”

Neutral hues and marble and timber surfaces fit perfectly with the green woodland vibe of the up-and-coming area, with bespoke units that are well-appointed with fully equipped kitchens and bathrooms. The result: space, sophistication, and lifestyle-friendly condos.

Qingjian connects the interior design to the architecture with timber cladding, as well as garden-like green grounds and shared spaces designed with an Asian aesthetic. Since Bishan means ‘mountains made of jade’, the materials used in the interiors and overall design create a sense of mountainous landscapes.

Warm tones add texture and depth, while the facilities, categorized by their function, such as WellnessScape, FitnessScape, and PlayScape, boast architectural and interior designs focused on further connecting residents to the Great Outdoors. A green, scenic pathway that stretches across the entire JadeScape development, plus linked-up pathways, terraces, swimming pools, and sanctuary-style clubhouses, continue the tone of the project’s design ethos: one that radiates majestically out from the purposefully designed interiors, beyond the bold silhouettes of the towers looking out to the reservoir.

JadeScape’s interiors combine a timeless quality with contemporary flair to reimagine a new, premium landscape in private condo design.
