Lock+Store has launched a new self-storage facility in Serangoon North to cater to the rising demand for “air-con” storage among small and medium enterprises (SMEs) and households in Singapore.

Lock+Store Chief Executive Officer Helen Ng said: “Since 2010, we have experienced a 10 percent year-on-year growth in the demand for air-conditioned storage among our customers. They include [customers that store] wines and household items and customers that are hobbyists storing their paintings.”

The facility is equipped with two big 4m x 5m cargo lifts, four loading bays and sufficient parking space. Potential customers, particularly those from the SME sector, can also use pallet jacks, trolleys and ladders for free.

Located at 56 Serangoon North Avenue 4, the new facility will feature 255 units spread across 10,371 sq ft of net lettable area, with sizes ranging from 20 sq ft to 150 sq ft or “about a quarter of the size of a shoebox apartment,” noted Ng.

“Serangoon and its vicinity are currently underserved by self-storage facilities. This, together with the trend of shrinking apartment sizes, rising consumerism and recently announced plans to develop Bidadari into a new town, bodes well for full-fledged self-storage providers like Lock+Store,” said Ng.
