Wee Hur Holdings and Lian Beng Group Ltd have been awarded separate Housing Development Board (HDB) contracts worth a total of S$172.5 million.
The Wee Hur contract, worth S$159.3 million, will see the construction of eight residential blocks and a basement parking lot, as well as communal facilities such as fitness stations, multi-purpose courts, pavilions and playgrounds at Sengkang Neighbourhood 4. Other works will include the construction of sub-stations, service roads, external landscaping and minor sewers.
“It is a great honour to play a major part in HDB’s effort to build more quality homes to meet the housing demand of our nation,” said Goh Yeow Lian, Executive Chairman of Wee Hur. “With HDB ramping up flat supply, construction companies such as Wee Hur will have more opportunities to tender for public housing building projects.”
The entire development will form a precinct known as Fernvale Riverbow, which will comprise 1,154 housing units. Construction works will commence on 19 December 2011 and is expected to be completed in August 2014.
Meanwhile, Lian Beng Group Ltd, through its wholly-owned unit, LS Construction Pte Ltd, secured a HDB contract worth S$13.2 million.
The contract comprises the construction of a proposed development in Tampines Neighbourhood and is expected to be completed by September 2013.
In addition, Lian Beng clinched an S$84.5 million contract from Lian Beng Centurion (Mandai) Pte Ltd (LBCM), a subsidiary of the company.
Under the contract, Lian Beng will construct two 12-storey blocks of an independent worker’s dormitory and a 10-storey ramp-up factory at Mandai Estate. Both developments are scheduled for completion in May 2013.
