My daughter is renting one room in a 3 bedroom condo unit from a couple who is renting it also. She does not have a written contract with the couple. She paid them 1 month advance and 1 month deposit when she came to Singapore last February 11, 2010 and has been paying her monthly rentals every 4th of the month. Now, she will be going home already this May 8 but will stay in the condo until May 4 only and the couple is aware of her leaving since she notified them 3 weeks ago. She is aware that the public utility bills will be deducted from her deposit and whatever needs to be deducted, she is even willing to forego the remaining balance from the deposit. Is it right not to pay the monthly rental fee this coming May 4?
