Hi Helen,

The current regulations mean private property owners cannot become owners of another resale HDB within the 15 month wait out period after the sale. However, if you have special circumstances on why you need to do so, you may wish to appeal to HDB on this matter.

By the way, nope you can’t in this case as the new regulations is such that you have to wait for a 15 months period right after the sale of your private property. However, you may still like to appeal to HDB too.

Am afraid this is not possible since you will need to wait out a period of 15 months before you are eligible to own a resale HDB, unless you are above 55 years old and the HDB is 4 room or smaller flat. Are you planning something in particular? Not so sure why are you planning to add your name in the HDB. You can actually sell the condo now, and be an occupier instead of co-owner.

Hi Helen,

1) After the new policy implemented in Sep 2022, a private property owner less than 55 yrs old can only own an HDB flat after 15 month of wait-out period upon selling his/her private property.
2) You may of course be an HDB occupier during the wait-out period.
3) You may appeal to the HDB if you have valid reasons to have the immediate needs to be the owner of your mum's flat.

Under the temporary measures, you will not be able to add your name into your mum's HDB until 15 months later. However, if the purpose of adding in your name is to help to service the HDB unit, you can appeal to HDB to ask for a waiver.

Due to the recent cooling measure, if you are below 55 of age, you have to serve a wait-out period of 15 months is not allowed to be named as an owner of HDB during this wait out period.
