I have the intention to buy a 5-year old resale EC but would like to hold on to my 5-rm HDB flat and rent it out. Please advise if this is possible. Or must I sell my flat when I buy an EC? I understand that I do not need to pay a resale levy should I buy an EC. Please advise if I am right. Thanks!

Hi CH,

You and your spouse must dispose the HDB flat within 6 months from the date of issuance of the TOP in respect of the EC.

Hope I have answer your question.

Hi CH,

If you have satisfied the MOP (minimum occupation period) of your 5rm HDB flat, you can proceed to purchase the resale EC. For resale EC purchase, there is no need to pay resale levy. This is because resale EC purchase is considered as a private property purchase.

Furthermore, you can keep your 5rm HDB flat and rent it out. Of course, you need to go to your branch office to apply for approval to rent out your HDB flat after securing tenants.

Hope i have cleared your doubts. If you have any more questions in mind, feel free to call at 96836230  .

Thanks,
