I am a private property owner. Planning to get married next year. My boyfriend had successfully applied for BTO last year. Perhaps need 3 to 5 years for completion.
May i know if i don't put my name in the BTO, can i still keep my condo?
Or what will happen to my condo & his BTO after married?
Please advise. Thanks.

Good afternoon June,

HDB usually will require the owner to include spouse if the flat is within 5 years minimum occupation period.

If thats the case, you guys have to decide whether to give up the BTO or sell off your condo.

It will still be best to clarify with HDB directly.

Congrats on your engagement btw!

Hope my sharing helps in aiding in your enquiry. May I know how can I value add further in your property needs?

Best regards,

Hi June,

1) If you maintain the current single status until he received his BTO. You will be able to keep your condo.
2) If you married before he received his BTO, you will have to sell your condo away once he got his BTO.
3) You will not be able to insert your name in his BTO until you sold your flat 2.5 yrs later.
4) My suggestion is not to challenge your relationship just because you want to keep your condo.
5) You may also put up your concern to the HDB so that you receive a black and white from the authority via their feedback channel:

Hope the above answer your main concerns, but if there are more query, please feel free to contact me at 90110636  , or email: ling.ck7@gmail.com if more information is needed.
I'll be glad to assist.

Hi Ms,

I supposed your boyfriend had applied for a 2RM flexi flat in a non-matured estate under Single Scheme? Since you mentioned that your name is not in the application? Or did he apply it under Public Scheme with his parents?

If he applied under Single Scheme, he may not be able to take possession of the flat if you were to get married next year. He may have to give up the flat as he's no longer Single.

If he is insistent to hold onto the BTO 2Rm flat, he would need to seek HDB's approval to add your name into the flat, as at least an essential occupier. This is subjected to approval, as you currently own a private property. And if it is approved, you will probably have to sell off your private property too.

I am experienced and well-versed in both HDB and private transactions. I will be able to assist you in your property plans. Please get in touch with me for a more in-depth discussion.

Should you need require further assistance in matters relating to property, please contact me at my mobile 9748 6305  . I will be happy to assess and share with you the possibilities for you in the current market.

Thank you.
