Hi! I'm a tenant. Do tenant need to pay 7% tax on top of agent fee? the agreed tenant fee is half a month rent. When is the tenant registration should be done? before or after TA signed and move into new unit?

Hi,

Agency work is a form of service. And Good and Services Tax (GST) of 7% is payable to the company providing the service, which in turn is paid to the Singapore Government.

Therefore, it is a must for the Agency to pay GST of 7%, else it will be considered tax evasion.

Stamp Fees need to be paid on the Tenancy Agreement, and is payable by the Tenant as well. It is to be paid not later than 14 days after signing of the TA.

Should you need any further assistance in matters relating to property, please contact me at my mobile 9748 6305  . I will be happy to assess and share with you the possibilities for you in the current market.

Thank you.

Best regards,
