Hi , if the flat was bought in cash during 1970 , not using any CPF at all , now if I sell it , do I need to top up Basic Retirement Sum (BRS)? ( if my current CPF are below the required Basic Retirement Sum ) ? TIA

Dear sir/mdm,

If no CPF funds were used for the current flat, there is no need to return any monies into CPF after selling the property. Unless you intend to utilise CPF funds for the next purchase and you are above 55 years old, you will need to meet the BRS in your RA before you can use the excess funds for purchase of the next unit.

Good morning,

If CPF was never used at any point of the purchase, and all by cash, you need not top up to BRS upon selling. However if you intend to utilize CPF OA for the next purchase, and if you are 55 years and above, you need to set aside BRS before any excess CPF OA can be used for property.
