Hi, I would like to check if my lanlord refuse to refund the deposit to me, can I make complaint to any related government dept? I rent a room about 3 months ago. In the tenancy contract, it stated minimum stay of 3 months and 1 month notice. This is the third month I stay here and I inform her that I am going to move out in the follwing month. She refuse to offset or refund the deposit to me because she said that i should at least stay 6 months. The time that signed contract, the lady owner was not around but her husband signed and agreed on what the agent said and written on the agreement. She deny this agreement and need me to stay at least 6 months or find a replacement then only can refund or offset the deposit. Please advise what action i can take against the lanlord. Thank you.
