I would like to ask is it legal that our house owner's agent be charging us 50% commission ( he is also charging the house owner 50% of the monthly rent since our contract is only for a year). My friend recommended me to the house owner. So most of the transaction was directly between me and the house owner. Agent was to draft the contract and formality purposes. I was so shocked when I saw the contract stating that I should also pay him a commission. (as i said, he didn't work for us. I found the house by my friends referral, not his). Thank you so much.
