Hi, i am looking at a possible switch into real estate. I have graduated with a degree in business management in 2010.The idea of a career switch has been on my mind for a few months now but i would like to understand a few crucial pointers before i can entirely convince myself to take that bold step. My main concern being on the return income and trying to figure out how much capital i would need for myelf in order to start in this industry. Somehow i feel connected to the property industry and perhaps that could be due to the fact that i enjoy meeting people from different walks of life. I have to be honest and not deny the financial perks of this job too. However i would like to learn and understand both sides of being in the industry and would love to hear some of your views so that it could help make that decision but more importantly, have myself financially prepared for this industry . Thank you for your time. Cheers!

Dear Chitra,

1. The start-up cost is around S$3,000 for you to obtain a real estate license

2. You have to be prepared for at least 6 months without any income (time for you to take the course/exam and perhaps, contracted at least a deal)

3. Time is in your hands. How fast you want to be financial independent depends on how fast you can work

4. Your immediate mentor is very important to your success in this industry

Feel free to contact me if you have any other queries.

Warmest regards,
