It's not about how much to pay to join an Agency and practice Real Estate.

To be a qualified Real Estate Salesperson, you will have to undergo a course and pass the exams. Only upon passing the exams can you qualify to register your license under one of the registered Estate Agents.

Hi Ivan,

There are some base costs which need to be paid when becoming a property agent, and I hope this doesn't dampen your interest in becoming one, but there are regular fees which we have to pay yearly to CEA and for our Professional Indemnity insurance.

That is the pretty much what we need to pay for. There are some miscellaneous expenses like namecards, Propertyguru account etc are all part of your business start up expenses.

But for many of those that wish to join this profession, their main cost has been their education and examination fees. So I would say that before you worry about what are the costs to become a property agent, the main hurdle you have to focus on is passing the Licensing exam for property agents, once you have passed it.

If you are looking to take the exam I may have some ideas on study and exam tips that might help you.

Hi, to be a property agent, whether part-time or full time, the min age is 21 yrs, must be Singapore citizen or PR, must have min 4 O level passes which you already have. Next, have to sign up and pass the RES (Real Estate Salesperson) course. You join the agency only when you have passed your RES exams and the agency you joined will apply to the license from CEA (Council for Estate Agencies) for you. The annual CEA license fees is about $400+. Some agency have min compulsory training for new arrivals, and the admission fees (inclusive of CEA annual license fees) could adds up to $900+.
Before joining any agency, you will search to join the right team with the right Mentor/Manager as this will greatly decides your future success. By joining the right team with proven success formula, your kick start in this new industry will be very much easy.
