Hello and excuse a new comer's question about engaging a property agent and his commission. We haven't signed any exclusive contract with an agent although we have gone to view flats with him. Sometimes when he is not available, his partner will replace him. Does this mean if the deal is close, we have to pay commission for both agents ? Or only to the first agent whom we work with mostly ?

Afternoon,

You will only be required to pay either of them. It's up to them to work things out on the split. As for commission payable, it's to be discussed between you and your salesperson.

Hi

Usually exclusivity would be given to agent who is trying to sell the unit for the owner. But in your case, you are buying and not selling. Thus you do not need to sign any exclusive with him or rather, you could engage a few agents to assist you instead. Cheers!
