Dear Sirs

I am a Malaysian, and currently a Singapore Permanent Resident.

My wife and I own a HDB which bought in Q1 2012. In fact, I do have a plan to upgrade my mom living environment from an 15 years old house to a new Gated & Guarded community in Johor Bahru.

So my question will be under HDB Private Residential Property Ownership policy:

1. If I'll be the sole borrower to buy the property for my mother, and SPA will not state my name, do I consider breach the HDB law?

2. If I'll be the guarantor and my sister be the main borrower, and SPA will just state my sister name, in this event, do I also breach the HDB law?

3. Can I apply exceptional approval with HDB to buy a house for my mother, if my case is strong enough to be deemed consideration?

4. What is the maximum penalty under this housing rule?

I look forward to your reply and thank you very much!

It will be good if you can write in to HDB for clarifications. Hdb will then evaluate your case and advise accordingly. Read More

Hi Alan

Under the HDB ruling one should not purchase any other property prior to meeting the Minimum Occupation Period (MOP).

However you may become the guarantor if you are not the owner/holding an ownership of that property.

Do consult a banker for loan eligibility prior to committing a unit will be much safer. =)
