Trying to put some objectivity in my purchase of a Hillvista unit at 1.1k psf just drew a blank. 1. It was kinda love at first sight. Nice address 1 Elizabeth Drive. 2. I'm pretty upbeat about the potential of Hillview. 3. 2 HVs I love, Hillview and Holland Village. Obviously I couldn't afford the latter. :D Now for the serious part. Firstly I need to qualify that I am fat. Facilities I am particular about being "overwhelmed" by facilities I do not need in condos, for example, a tennis court, or putting green. Hillvista is not one of them. A good pool, sheltered from the wind and afternoon sun is all I need. Interior Unit layout is clever, especially the kitchen. Materials for interior is pretty decent. The signature sunken bath concept from Far East is great for having baths at home without punishing those who shower. Folks who dread climbing in and out of slippery bathtubs for a shower will know what I mean. Nevermind the smaller floor areas because wasted space is wasted money anyway. Exterior Not too excessive with display-only features that add to maintenance. I don't know, or care, if its really a Balinese theme, at least its not ugly or overdone. Since its new, it looks better than the surrounding developments. Now for the grievences. 127 units, 127 parking lots, and not all are sheltered in the basement!?!? I estimate its about 550m of walking to the future Hillview Station. Perhaps its easy for you, but I'm just too fat to do that. No rear exit to Jalan Batu Nilam. Some units may be somewhat west facing. Now something about Fengshui. Based on my inept and naive understanding of this topic, within the 8-gua numbers, I observed that there seems to be an acceptable layout for almost every gua number (that means almost everyone) depending on which unit you choose. There you go. Now, go buy a Hillvista unit just because the fat man says so. -

Just a condo, but an area to watch
Been to the showflat. Outlook of the development certainly ups the ante for the surrounding mature developments. It is indeed pricier in that area after considering its brand new with a 200-300 psf gap. Perhaps 1000-1100 psf will be the benchmark for new Hillview developments, a premium over the 900 - 1000 you might be seeing for an older unit. As a home, looks attractive. Possible mall near the roundabout, school at Elizabeth Drive, railway land developments... with the exodus of the light industries, Hillview could gain significant prestige. A dinner at Railway Mall gave me an interesting insight about Hillview area though... but you'll have to find that out yourself. -

HillVista
At more than S$1000psf, to be a little more exact, it now cost slightly more than S$1100psf, I don't think is worth it. Is overpriced, and upside limited. I have been to the recent open house, liked the project and find the space layout decent and functional. Showflat is impressive, with sizeable cabinet. Squarish design and allow full use of space. Quiet and nice place for family. For those who don't drive, not so convenient. Though coming Hillview MRT is about 600m away, there is a steep slope (up and down) that one need to cross to reach the MRT, and imagine if your hands are full of shopping loads, quite an effort. -

Hill Vista
I notice that Hill Vista is selling at more than $1,000 psf whereas the surrounding condos are asking for $700-800 psf. Do you think that Hill Vista is overpriced? -
