About 930,000 Singaporean households living in HDB flats will receive their GST Voucher – U-Save rebates this month, announced the Ministry of Finance (MOF) on Thursday (2 January).
A part of the permanent GST Voucher scheme, the U-Save rebates are disbursed every three months to help households offset part of their utilities and lower their overall expenses.

However, households whose members “own more than one property are not eligible for the GST Voucher – U-Save”, said the ministry.
It added that up to $300 million in U-Save rebates are expected to be given out from 1 April 2019 to 31 March 2020.
Under the Open Electricity Market, Singaporean households “will continue to receive U-Save rebates regardless of their electricity provider”.
MOF noted that households living in one- and two-room HDB flats receive U-Save rebates equivalent to around three to four months of their utility bills on average.
Meanwhile, the support received by those living in three- and four-room HDB flats is equivalent to around one to two months of their utility bills.
“The Government will continue to explore ways to help Singaporeans with their cost of living, especially in this period of economic uncertainty,” assured Indranee Rajah, Minister in the Prime Minister’s Office and Second Minister for Finance and Education.
