Singapore’s best residential, commercial, industrial and green properties will be awarded.
More than 20 real estate projects from 16 companies and joint venture firms have been shortlisted for the PropertyGuru Asia Property Awards (Singapore) 2017, the most prestigious real estate competition here.
Presented by Kohler and supported by PropertyGuru, the competition is now in its seventh year. It aims to recognise the top projects in Singapore, which despite slowing down in recent years due to cooling measures and fewer transactions or launches compared with previous years – still leads the region in green building, sustainable design, and technological and architectural innovation.
GuocoLand Singapore has 12 nominations, the most of any developer. Its integrated development Tanjong Pagar Centre, which is directly linked to Tanjong Pagar MRT station, has been nominated in multiple categories including outstanding office, retail, hotel and condominium development and design.
Sustainable development nominee EL Development and boutique developer Lian Beng Group are tied in second place, followed by last year’s two-time winner Qingjian Realty, with seven nominations.
Meanwhile, Oxley Holdings received six shortlists in the office and hotel categories, as well as for best industrial development, a nomination it shares with joint venture partner Lian Beng Group.
“Increasing globalisation and internet exposure have no doubt added to the competition amongst Singaporean developers and in doing so, raised the standard across the region,” said chairman of the judges and renowned architect Minkqee Tan, chief designer at MINKEE Architects.
“We’re excited to see that developers are plying their trade with more thoughtful products and are forced to embrace innovations and new features in order to stay ahead of the game.”
Under the strict supervision of auditing and accountancy firm BDO, the judging panel made their final selection following a six-month nomination and judging process that included actual site inspections and intensive panel deliberations.
The winners and highly commended companies will be announced at a gala dinner on 7 November at Marina Bay Sands. Separately, the editors of PropertyGuru Property Report magazine will choose the real estate personality of the year, and the winner will be announced beforehand.
