“Delivering well-designed and quality homes for Singaporeans is a national endeavour. Even as HDB takes the lead in planning, design and construction of public housing, our architectural consultants and building contractors play an important role,” said HDB’s chief executive Dr Cheong Koon Hean.
Among the recipients of the design awards is ADDP Architects LLP for providing the blueprint for Waterway Cascadia, a housing project in Punggol Waterway known for its cascading blocks that maximise the area’s scenic views. It also received the Building and Construction Authority’s (BCA) Greenmark Gold Plus standard and an Active, Beautiful, Clean (ABC) Waters certification due to its eco-friendly features, such as a network of bio-swales and rain gardens.
Another awardee is Surbana Jurong Consultants for designing Keat Hong Pride. A key feature of this development is its large roof garden that comes with various facilities such as fitness corners, playgrounds and precinct pavilions.
Meanwhile, eight HDB housing projects are set to receive awards for building quality. These projects achieved a score of more than 90 and surpassed the national average of 88.7 in the Construction Quality Assessment System (CONQUAS), which gauges the overall quality of a building’s workmanship during construction.
One of the winners is China Construction (South Pacific) Development Co. for building Hougang Meadow, an 800-unit housing project that clinched a CONQUAS score of over 95.
