The new Bedok Integrated Transport Hub (ITH) is expected to open in the fourth quarter of 2014, said the Land Transport Authority (LTA) in a statement.
The 1.6 hectare air-conditioned ITH is linked to Bedok Mall, and there will be 400 sq m of commercial space at the hub.
Equipped with barrier-free facilities, it is also Singapore’s first ITH to achieve the Building and Construction Authority’s (BCA) Green Mark Platinum Award. Green features include energy efficient lighting for the concourse, LED lighting for the driveway and bus park area, as well as a water-cooled air-conditioning system.
The hub is part of Bedok’s rejuvenation plans, which includes a new development, Bedok Residences, right next to the MRT station.
The new Bedok ITH is the seventh ITH where the bus interchange and MRT station are linked with adjoining commercial developments.
ITHs are also currently being built in Joo Koon, Bukit Panjang and Yishun.
