Hi GA,

Normally Seller will choose to use Contra-Facility when they are tight with their financial for their new resale/ open market purchase..

Some adv & disadv could be :

1. Finance advantage, need not to fork out alot cash for new purchase COV if your new purchase is cheaper compare to your profit.. HDB could use your profit immediately from your current flat.

2. Disadv - May have lesser choice of units to choose from for your new purchase as HDB only allows 1 party on contra for each transaction. That also affects no of buyers eligible for your unit to be sold.

3. Disadv - You will have short timeline to search for your idea new purchase..

Careful planning is needed HDB contra arragements. The owner MUST be clear of the selling process. Secondly, they must also understand the buying expectation, "ready fund and cpf" etc.. I conduct HDB calculation session for our associates in my team.
