What does a step up corridor unit mean?

Dear sir/madam,
If you have walked past the corridor of HDB blocks, you may realised that for units that are along the corridor walkway, the entrance to some of the units have a couple of steps upwards before you can enter the house. I believe this is what it means by step up corridor unit.
