With the current ruling, unless you have fulfilled the Minimum Occupation Period, you are not eligible to have your name in a second property.
As for the MOP, it would be dependent on your purchase period, as what Zhiwei have indicated.

Hello Yvonne,

as long as you have cleared your MOP, you can purchase private property. But if you have not cleared your MOP, the only property you can purchase for investment is pure commercial/industrial property. Do note that for commercial property, downpayment is 30% and it has to be in cash.

There are still many commercial units which are value for money and already tenanted thus ensuring immediate cashflow for you. This is one area which you can explore. I have some offices going for as low as $280k onwards which are already tenanted. Do let me know if you are keen. Have a good weekend!
