No it's not true. In actual fact, landlord agent will receive commission from landlord and tenant agent to receive commission from tenant regardless on the rental amount.
In the past, rental above $2500, tenant need not pay commission to agent but now the restrictions have lifted out to avoid conflict of interest of 1 agent serving both the landlord n tenant.
Hence it's better in this way now so u can be sure that the agent providing the service to u is really care for u and look after your interest.
