If I have never bought a BTO before, but I’ve already bought a resale flat as my first property. Can I still purchase a BTO, assuming I am eligible. If yes, how would I go about buying a BTO as one of the criteria states that I cannot own a property. Do I sell my resale flat first, then apply for BTO. And while waiting, I have to rent an apartment in the meantime?

Are you a Singapore Citizen? Did you receive any housing grant for your resale flat? If you have, you will be considered a 2nd timer. You will not need to sell existing flat when you apply, but closer to the TOP of the BTO unit, should you require the funds from the sale of your current flat to finance the purchase in order for you to collect keys, then you will need to time the sale proper in order not to jeoparise your key collection schedule.

Hi, you do not have to sell your existing unit first. What you have to firstly do is to apply for an HFE, which will tell you what you are eligible to buy, how much loan and grants you can get, as well as resale levy applicable. Closer to key collection for BTO,depending on how you plan to finance your purchase of BTO, the timeline for sale of your existing unit will differ. Perhaps I can assist you if you want.

Hi,

If your MOP of 5 years is met, and you fulfill all other hdb eligibility conditions like monthly income 14k and below, you can apply BTO first and need not sell your flat first. However if you decide to book a BTO unit, 10% downpayment and 3% approx stamp duties will be payable.

You can still buy a BTO flat! Here's a summary:

Eligibility Check: Apply for an HDB Flat Eligibility (HFE) letter to confirm your eligibility and any applicable grants or levies.
Selling Your Resale Flat (Timing): You don't need to sell your current flat immediately, but the sale might be needed closer to collecting the keys for your BTO flat (to use the funds).
