I am well versed in HDB and have assisted various single buyers in purchasing a resale HDB. A single can purchase only 2 room BTO/SBF located in non mature estate areas. Singles can also buy HDB resale of any size and any location in the open market. However to enjoy first timer grants (singles are eligible for grants) and take an HDB loan, the resale flat must be 5 room or smaller and can be located at any area.
