Unfortunately you will not be eligible for housing grants as you are coming from private property. You may be eligible for proximity housing grant if you happen to stay within 4km of the your parents or married child.

Initially we have decided to try to write to HDB for early sale but since it was only 3 months left, eventually we waited for another 3 months while we looked for our next property. Just to share for condo seller to HDB buyer, you only able to get Proximity grants unless you choose to wait for 30 months for 1st timer grants.

Hi Sir/Mdm,

You will not be eligible for housing grant. Proximity Housing Grant (PHG) of 20k is applicable if you were to move within 4km from your parents or married child. I have assisted many of my clients who are in the same situation to transit from a private property to a HDB.

Assuming you are a first timer, you would not be eligible for a first timer grant or purchase a BTO for a 30 months period after selling your private property. You may purchase a HDB resale. However you will be eligible for PHG grant provided you meet the proximity criteria of living with/near (within 4 km radius) from your parents. Assuming you purchase a HDB resale now and decides to sell it after MOP and purchase another resale or BTO, you will then be eligible for first timer grant as you will be deemed not to have purchased a subsidised flat before and have met the '30 months' cooling off period.
