Nope there is no wait out period if you wish to upgrade from resale hdb to private condo. However, we need to sell first then buy and plan the timeline properly such that ABSD can be avoided and the transition (financial and physical moving wise) can be smooth. Hi Winston,

There is no restriction for you to purchase a private property. There is no cooling period for your upgrading.

To avoid ABSD, you will need to sell off your HDB (submission of HDB 1st Appointment) and then exercise the OTP for your purchase.

Alternatively, if you're planning to buy the private property as your matrimonial home, you can purchase first, then sell your HDB later and apply to claim ABSD refund.

You may buy a condominium after meeting your MOP. There is no cooling period.

You may sell your HDB flat first and then buy a private condo. Do note that you will need housing during the transition period.

There is NO ABSD. payable since you are selling your hdb to buy a private property .

You may negotiate with the buyer of your hdb for 3months extension stay , subject to buyer being agreeable , this will serve to accommodate you during the interim period , therefore a smoother transit from hdb to private property .

As explained by my colleagues, there is no cooling period. As long as your buyer exercised the option for your HDB before you exercise the option for the purchase of the condo, there WILL NOT be a ABSD.

I have assisted many of my clients to upgrade from a HDB to a condo. The most challenging part is on how to manage the finances and the timeline such that the transition is smooth and there is no need for an interim place to stay.
