I moved in an HDB with a woman owner in Nov when I arrived in Singapore. Our agreement was for 3 months. I paid 1 full month deposit plus 1 month in advance. She requested rent be paid 3 weeks before due. Although it is NOT common practice I acquiesced. I have paid in total deposit + 3 rents i.e. until early Feb. I found an apartment 10 days ago and I can move into in early Jan... She has pretty much refused to talk to me since: The day before she had asked me to renew my contract and I refused as living with her was always going to be a short term thing and she knew it. I asked whether my deposit could be refunded when I move out in Jan, when I would like to return her keys and permanently move out - not asking for rent refund - but she is not saying anything. How should I proceed? Thank you
