You signed the OTP in Jan 2010 or the transaction is completed in Jan 2010? if your transaction is completed in Jan 2010, and you have applied for the unit to be rented out, during your outstation, you still need to fulfill your 2.5 years MOP.
If you signed the OTP in Jan 2010, it would most likely that your completion would be somewhere is Apr 2010, hence your MOP would be 3 years.
Without fulfilling the MOP, you are not eligible to purchase private property under your name.
