I am a sporean and my wife is PR. We r planning to buy our 2nd property most likely private condo. Stamp Duty of about 3% for sporean But my in case my wife is a pr. She will have to pay 6% since PR 2nd property onward will have to pay 6% Stamp Duty as well which include the ABSD ?? pls advice. Thanks

Hi Mr Red,

If your wife's name appears in your HDB, and going to appear in your 2nd property as well, yes 3% ABSD is applied on top of the normal stamp duty.

If your 2nd property is under your name only, no ABSD.

Hi Red,

You can apply to for remission on the ABSD but subject to approval.
Alternatively, you can just put the next property under your name only.
