I am a HDB flat seller. Both me and the buyer have submitted our resale application to HDB resale portal 3 weeks ago. Was just informed today by my agent that buyer is appealing to retain his overseas property with HDB and request to delay the completion date by 2 weeks. I have signed the OTP to purchase another private property and am worried that the HDB sales transaction may be delay or void because of the appeal. Is it normal for HDB to request for additional documents 3 weeks after we submit the resale application, or could it be that the buyer did not declare his overseas property in the first place to HDB? Will the HDB sale completion be delay or affected or void if I do not agree with the buyer's request to extent the completion date?

Hi,

1) Your agent should be able to advise you on all your concerns.
2) It is not abnormal for the HDB to request additional documents in the process.
3) The buyer has 6 months to dispose of his overseas property if the HDB did not approve his appeal.
4) Thus unlikely it will affect your completion timeline.
5) You have all the rights, not to extend the completion date.

Hi,

The completion date is to be agreed by both the Seller and the Buyer. You have the rights to reject the request made by the Buyer, especially if it may affect your Timeline. Your agent should be acting in your interest, not the Buyer's interest.
