Morning Ed,

There is no hard and fast rules when it comes to agent's commission. Everything is to be ironed out, prior to the signing for the CEA agreement.
Personally, for selling, my commission rate is at 1.75%, which may vary, depending on the asking price from the owner. As for purchase, my rate is going at 0.8%. All rates stated above are exclusive of GST.

My rates are better than Mike :p

Just kidding, I believe in win-win scenarios for my clients and myself therefore I always believe that the higher I sell for my client, I should be entitled to higher comms such that I will definitely strive to sell at a higher price. I usually work out the comms rate with my client in tiers therefore should you be interested to find out, I'd appreciate if you can give me a call for discussion.
