Asked by
Hi This is Shirley, I am a Singaporean with SG PR husband. My husband and I intend to get a new flat with HDB loan and I am applying the HLE letter via online portal now.

My question here is;
My husband is in loan with credit card which he is working hard as self employed to repay them now, Will his credit bureau rating (HH) affecting our HDB loan if applying together?
And,
Is it possbile to apply the HDB loan solely under my name? if yes how can I go about it?

Thanks and Appreciate your help.

Hi,

1) Credit Bureau credit score rating is based on the following factor:
a) Annual Salary
b) Length of employment,
c) Bankruptcy/litigation information
d) Number of credit facilities
You may find more details can be found under:

2) Loan also depends on the lender's lending policies.

3) Under your current situation, his credit card loan will definitely affect the amount of loan you can receive, or worst situation, may even not getting approval.

4) You may apply HLE solely under your name, no issue at all.

5) If your spouse wished to make use of his CPF to lighten the loan, he will have to register as one of the owners. His name will be needed to be on the OTP to declared him as one of the owners.
Although you are the only one paying the loan. In this case, you may consider holding the property under Tenancy-In-Common rather than the common method of Joint-Tenancy.

6) Reason being is you will be solely held responsible to pay the loan legally. Your spouse can assist in paying the loan using cash.
