Hi there
I’m a Married Singaporean living in Hong Kong with my spouse.
I had Never applied for any HDB flat before can I apply for a BTO under my own name?
As my spouse SOLELY own a property in Hong Kong & we are willing to let go when we are able to purchase a HDB BTO in Singapore.
If I can’t be present for all the HDB appointments can I Authorize my family member to do so ?

Good evening Sir/ Mdm,

I am afraid to inform you that you guys are not eligible to apply for BTO or new EC because your spouse owns an overseas residential property. He/ she has to dispose it and observe 30 months waiting period before can apply for one.

Alternatively you guys can look at the resale HDB or private segment.

Power of authority can be appointed to handle the purchase.

Hi,

In order to apply for the BTO flat, your spouse will have to dispose the overseas property first, then wait out a 30-month period before your eligible to apply for the BTO flat.

Also, do take note that if your spouse is a foreigner (no SC or SPR), you can only apply for 2-RM flats in non-mature estates.

Alternatively, you may consider a resale flat (of any size) or a private condo instead.

Hi,

1) Under your current situation, you are not eligible to apply for a BTO/SBF or even resale HDB flat.

2) As a married SC, you could be eligible under the Non-Citizen Spouse scheme for 2-rm BTO in the non-mature estate if you could fulfill the following conditions:
(a) Your spouse has a work permit or Long term visit pass
(b) You must be at least 35 yrs old.
(c) All applicants must be own any other properties overseas or locally and have not disposed of any within the last 30 months.
(d) Average household income not exceeding $7k/month
3) You shall be eligible for a normal BTO flat by satisfying all conditions listed under 2 and having a child from the marriage who is an SC or SPR.

4) If you considering a resale HDB flat. You will just need to satisfy 2(a) & 2(b) for any type of flat.
5) You may also apply for the half housing grant of $25k & proximity grant of $10k (within 4km from parents') if you satisfy 2(a) & 2(d).
6) All applicants may dispose of their overseas or local property within 6 months upon key collection of the resale HDB flat.
