Hi, I would like to buy a HDB. But I am not sure if I am eligible, in terms of finance. Also, I would like to know what are the payments I need to prepare & make. Hence, I wish to understand more before I can decide if I can proceed further.

Hi;

If you are taking a bank loan, you will need total 25% cash and/or CPF of the purchase price, not to mention the Stamp Duty ( approx 3% ), legal fees and other miscellanous costs.. If you are taking HDB loan, then you will need 10% downpayment ( cash and/or CPF) .. both assuming you are eligible for the max loan quantum and subjected to bank/HDB approval. To answer your question, I will need more details on your profile. For cash portion, I have ever assist clients securing a resale willth less than $5k including agent fees. However this does not apply to all as the amount of cash needed for a resale varies depending on the type of flat you secured and your negotiation skills. In the current market after the CB period, HDB resale prices do generally increase in price and this is where you need to be careful of having to come out with COV which can be quite a hefty amount. As for CPF, grants and loans you are eligible for, I will need further information in order to advise further. As HDB transactions are quite complex in nature, it is important for you to understand the process well before making any decisions to avoid surprising senarios such as having to come out with a large amount of COV or purchasing a flat that is well over your budget.
